Interlibrary Loans for External Libraries

We offer fee-based lending services to external and institutional libraries. Learn more about our interlibrary loan (ILL) services at the Bora Laskin Law Library.

What items are eligible for our library’s ILL service?

We can loan or provide scanned excerpts from most materials located on-site in the Bora Laskin Library collection. However, we cannot lend our loose-leaf volumes, law reports, statutes, periodicals, audiovisual, reference and reserve materials.

If you seek materials held by other University of Toronto Libraries or Downsview, you must place your ILL request directly with University of Toronto Libraries. We are unable to fulfill ILL requests for items not held by our law library.

If you are affiliated with an organization or corporation with an associate membership, you can use an associate membership card to borrow and access materials directly from most U of T campus libraries.

Placing your ILL request, copyright & fees

External libraries without associate memberships may request eligible items by submitting an e-mail to law.ill@utoronto.ca. Please note: the University of Toronto no longer uses the RACER system for ILL services.

The University of Toronto’s Fair Dealing Guidelines apply to all ILL requests, including scanned excerpts. See Copyright Resources at U of T for more information.

View fee and payment information on the U of T Libraries’ Lending to other institutions page.
