Professor Betty M. Ho (1948-2010) was a preeminent scholar of Chinese corporate, commercial and financial law. As a professor at the Tsinghua University Law School from 2002 to 2008, she made important contributions to the development of the Chinese legal system. Professor Ho also introduced Canadian students to Chinese law as a professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. The Betty Ho Chinese Law Collection at the Bora Laskin Law Library contains more than 300 works on Chinese law, in Chinese, from Professor Ho’s personal library. The collection encompasses both public and private law, as well as comparative law, legal history and jurisprudence. It is an invaluable resource to scholars who, like Professor Ho herself, seek to bridge the Chinese and western legal cultures.
