Gender Hate Propaganda and Sexual Violence in the Rwandan Genocide: An Argument for Intersectionality in International Law

Using the Media Trial at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) as an example, the author argues that to effectively address the violence committed against Tutsi women during the Rwandan Genocide, the ICTR must recognize the violence was both sexist and racist. The author presents a general background on the Rwandan genocide, the propaganda campaign and its effect on Tutsi women.

Gender and AIDS: Overview Report

This report discusses the importance of incorporating a gendered human rights framework when addressing HIV/AIDS issues. The author points to some of the key causes and impacts of the HIV/AIDS epidemic (social, economic, political, and demographic). The author also notes that current approaches to HIV/AIDS fail to take gender differences into account and to empower women.
