This article examines Canadian immigration policy concerning sex-trade workers and the extent to which this policy protects the human rights of this group of migrant women. The article begins with a review of the social justifications for these policies and assesses the extent to which the current policy could be modified to increase protection for these workers. The Canadian policy is also analyzed to determine the extent to which it falls under the international definition of trafficking.

The report analyzes the measures the Canadian government has taken to reach the goals outlined in the Platform for Action. Specifically, it examines the discrimination experienced by Aboriginal women in the operation of the justice system. The report argues that the lack of protection for Aboriginal women in Canadian law leads to violations of Canada's international human rights obligations.
