Rights, Refugee Women and Reproductive Health

This paper examines means to effectively apply human rights norms to protect and ensure reproductive rights of refugee women. The author examines the gap between refugee law and the actual practice of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and international donors in responding to the needs of refugee women. This examination explores the applicability of other legal and policy frameworks for addressing issues of sexual violence and reproductive health. The paper also addresses the issue of transnational versus individual state responsibility for guaranteeing to refugee women the full range of human rights.
