Annotation:
This report outlines the importance of the
Convention on the Elimination of All Forms
of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW)
and concrete policy and social changes
states can make that might address several
prominent gender inequality issues. The
article focuses on four key areas: (1)
trafficking of women and girls, (2)
improving conditions for women's economic
opportunity, (3) increasing political
participation of women, and (4) advancing
human rights by promoting equality for
women. For each section, the report
provides case studies from a variety of
countries, and outlines the proactive
steps that have been taken to advance
gender equality through legal reform and
policy assessment.
