Annotation:
In October 1998, the Division for the Advancement of Women sent out a questionnaire to governments on the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action (PFA). Government responses that are available electronically are posted on this UN website. The questionnaire was divided into three parts. In Part I governments were asked to provide an analytical overview of trends in implementing the PFA and to highlight major achievements and obstacles. In Part II governments were asked to discuss national budgetary measures to promote women's equality and institutional arrangements for implementing the PFA. In Part III governments were asked to describe policies, programmes and projects initiated to implement the PFA's 12 critical areas for priority action. Governments were also asked to describe future initiatives.
