Single Ageing Women and Housing Security : A Pilot Study of Women Living in the Cities of Unley and Salisbury

This document finds that older Australian women living in rentals showed some level of housing or financial stress and were vulnerable to homelessness if faced with unexpected expenses. This issue is particularly salient because of Australia’s aging population. The majority of women over the age of 55 living in rentals are more likely to do so because of adverse life events, like divorce, loss of employment, health issues, and death of a partner.
