Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families

Adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 18, 1990, this UN Convention entered into force on July 1, 2003 with the aim of preventing and eradicating the exploitation and abuse of migrant workers. Although the Convention is not specific to women, the provisions are relevant to womens rights as migrant workers. The provisions focus on non-discrimination against migrant workers and protection of their human rights in order to promote "sound, equitable, humane and lawful conditions" for migrant workers and their families.
