This site was established for the 'Beijing Plus Five' Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly (GA), 5-9 June 2000. At this Special Session, the GA assessed the progress achieved in the implementation of the Nairobi Forward Looking Strategies and the Beijing Platform for Action (PFA), and it considered further initiatives. The site contains information on the preparatory committee, on governmental and non-governmental participants, a press kit and background information. By selecting "Documents", the user can access a variety of relevant materials including PrepComm documents, resolutions, national action plan reports, and the UN Commission on the Status of Women conclusions on the Platform for Action's 12 critical areas of concern.
