This article considers the effects of globalization on women with disabilities in Canada. Because of the social and economic discrimination faced by women with disabilities, the author argues that they are particularly vulnerable to the effects of globalization. The author considers cuts to social spending, the increase of non-standard forms of employment, the rise of consumerism and the emphasis on individual responsibility as trends that reinforce the marginalization of women with disabilities. She urges anti-globalization activists to incorporate the voices and concerns of women with disabilities into their movement and argues that legal and political advocacy on behalf of women with disabilities should focus on strategies to attain economic redistribution.
